Get to Know Dr. Reilly
Breast reduction is a procedure that changes how you move, how you dress, and how you feel in your body every day. That kind of surgery deserves a surgeon who treats it with the attention it requires.
As Chief of Plastic Surgery at Griffin Hospital, a Yale New Haven Hospital affiliate, Dr. Reilly has spent over 25 years refining his approach to breast surgery. He combines technical precision with a genuine focus on each patient’s comfort, goals, and long-term results.
From your very first consultation, you’ll notice the difference. Dr. Reilly listens carefully, explains things clearly, and builds a plan around your body and your life. It’s the reason so many women across Connecticut choose him for their breast reduction surgery.

Education and Training
Dr. Reilly’s surgical career was built on years of advanced training at some of the most respected programs in the Northeast.
Medical School
Dr. Reilly graduated with High Honors from Ross University School of Medicine. His early academic record set the foundation for a career focused on surgical excellence and patient-centered care.
General Surgery Residency
He completed his General Surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus, where he trained in a wide range of surgical disciplines. The program’s emphasis on precision, critical thinking, and complex case management shaped how he approaches every procedure today.
Plastic Surgery Residency
Dr. Reilly went on to complete a competitive Plastic Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. This fellowship-level training focused entirely on plastic and reconstructive techniques, with hands-on experience across breast, body, and facial procedures. It’s where his focus on breast surgery began to take shape.
Board Certifications and Memberships
Dr. Reilly is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has held an additional board certification in General Surgery. Fewer than 1% of all physicians in the country achieve this dual distinction.
Board certification matters because it means a surgeon has completed accredited training, passed rigorous examinations, and committed to ongoing education throughout their career. It’s the clearest signal that your surgeon meets the highest standards in the field.
Professional Memberships (Past & Present):
These affiliations keep Dr. Reilly connected to the latest research, surgical techniques, and safety standards in the field. They also reflect the respect he’s earned from colleagues across the region.
“Every patient who walks through my door deserves a surgeon who holds themself to the highest standard. That’s what board certification represents to me, and it’s a promise I renew as the years go on.”
Recognition and Awards
Dr. Reilly has been recognized year after year by his peers and by independent physician rating organizations. These awards are not purchased or self-nominated. They’re based on evaluations from other doctors and on patient satisfaction.

Academic Appointment
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Reilly serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. He plays an active role in training the next generation of plastic surgeons.
Teaching at the medical school level requires staying current with evolving techniques, research, and standards of care. For Dr. Reilly, it’s a responsibility he takes seriously, and it directly benefits his patients. A surgeon who teaches is a surgeon who never stops learning.
“The best surgeons never stop being students. Working with residents forces me to improve my own techniques, stay current, and find better ways to deliver results for my patients.”
Specialization in Breast Reduction
While Dr. Reilly has performed a wide range of plastic surgery procedures, breast reduction surgery has become a core focus of his practice. Years of experience with this specific procedure mean he understands both the technical precision it demands and the real impact it has on his patients’ daily lives.
Dr. Reilly evaluates your breast size, tissue composition, skin quality, and body proportions to build the right surgical plan for your specific case. He factors in your symptoms, your goals, and what will give you the best long-term result.
He selects from anchor, vertical, and donut incision patterns based on your anatomy and the extent of reduction needed. From straightforward cases to more complex situations with significant asymmetry, his experience allows him to adapt his approach to your unique needs.
The goal isn’t just smaller breasts. It’s a result that looks balanced, lifted, and natural on your body. Careful attention to symmetry, breast shape, and nipple placement ensures results that look right for you.
Surgical Philosophy and Approach
Dr. Reilly’s approach to breast reduction starts well before the operating room. He believes the best outcomes come from honest conversations, realistic expectations, and a plan that’s built specifically for you.
